Excelente biblioteca, muy completa y muy bonita. Lamentablemente no se pueden sacar fotos adentro pero claramente vale la pena.

I found out they do a pijama story time on Wednesdays at 6:30pm. It took my attention that on the official library website, the description of this activity says "we welcome all ages" but on the ages label it only shows it's for kids 5 to 10 years old. Now I know the reason, I went today 8/14/2024 and the person in charge of this activity, a heavy white mature woman, she is not willing to deal with kids younger than 5. My daughter is 2 years old, and she gets excited with all the colors and kids around, she laughs and jumps, ok she won't stay seated but I mean they are kids. Then this woman asked me to step out of the room, right at the beginning of the activity! I mean, if she doesn't have the patience to deal with kids of all ages, why is she in charge of this kind of activity? . She expects the kids to be seated and still and to talk low, come on! If you have young kids, less than 5, go to the Alief-David Library, we have so much fun there, they play guitar, play videos, beautiful music, and bring out toys for kids to play, nobody will ask you to step out of the room just for your little ones being kids.

The interior of this place is quite nice - surprisingly so. It’s in a well-trafficked part of town, and is a free, public resource, and naturally, people take advantage of it. Good on them; that’s what it’s for.
I get that if you came here to study, it could be distracting to hear, smell or otherwise be aware of other human beings, and people pass through here who desperately need a safe space, even if just for a while.
I can’t really hold that against the library - I’m glad it’s here for them, especially during the hottest hours of the day.
Suffice it to say: if I needed absolute peace and quiet (isolation, etc), I wouldn’t recommend a public library (if you have other options). If you don’t have other options (apart from the network of HPL libraries), this place is pretty great.
There is a ‘Living Room’ with 10 very large, comfortable sitting chairs, magazine rack, 5 charging stations (2 outlets on a side table in between each pair of chairs) and a huge picture window that opens onto a space that is likely shielded from direct sunlight during all operating hours.
It’s got a sparse, odd interior design (like several of the HPL locations in the area) that seems like someone at an architecture firm read an article about hygge once, but I like that it’s updated and clearly some resources were devoted.
Highly recommend. And give to the Friends of the Library Society.

My kids and I love this library. Well organized, very friendly staff and not too big to be overwhelming for little kids. They are very kid friendly, there is an entire area dedicated to kids books of all ages, including a kids computer area, little coloring station, reading and a great play area. We usually spend several hours here.
Also, highly recommend all the events they're having. They have regular (weekly, biweekly) events as well as special events. You usually need to register for an event, registration opens 2 weeks before an event is scheduled. So far we greatly enjoyed all events we joined. Our Kid's absolute favorite is pajama storytime

I like the "all - encompassing" "have nothing to do" security guards here likes l to correct how you quietly sit in your chair and reading a book whether you are facing forward or facing sideways (I am being sarcastic of course)
yes I meant how you sit in your own chair ‼️
